EnterTheFleshAgain: Fauna and Flora #5

Posted by SeethingSwarm - May 20th, 2014

One more of the many playable characters in my upcoming game "Enter The Flesh Again".

The Bloated Turtle is a cold-blooded reptile born from an egg. Even as a tiny hatchling the blown-up shell on its back makes it able to float in the air while the turtle uses its limbs to get around. It is omnivorous, feeding on everything from fruits, plankton to animals by using its jaw, adapted for crushing and grinding. The jellyfish is its favorite food source. Bloated Turtles can escape from harm by hiding inside their own shells which are hard and surprisingly durable.

Wait, so this will be an underwater life form that will not interact with the terrestrial life form?
Is the Bloated Turtle going to be able to interact with the Lurkers or any other creature that is not a water type?
So many questions.

Creatures like jellyfish, turtles and axolotls that are normally found in water on earth, actually fly or float in the air, acting like they do in water. And yes, they are able to interact with all the other terrestrial creatures and vice versa.

I'd like to state for the record that I highly enjoy penis.

Awesome, it suits your name!

So, from what I understand, it will be something between Taoist philosophy and E.V.O.? Sorry, I still didn't quite understand how this will work, but I'm 99% certain that it will be awesome.

You don't have to be sorry :) I know these early promo pics are cryptic and don't really show off the actual gameplay just yet, but I'll get there in the future. I've never played E.V.O before, but I just watched a walkthrough video of the game and yes, Enter The Flesh Again will be quite similar concerning things like hunting for food and other elements of survival, but it won't be focused on the evolution of creatures at all.

The gameplay will be very similar, only more elaborate. For example, playing as a butterfly, you will be able to pollinate plants which will then bear fruits. These fruits can then be eaten by other creatures that do not get nourishment from flower nectar. If you play as a Dingalope and you are very hungry, you will be quite happy to find a butterfly flying around some flowers, because it can pollinate the flowers which will then provide food for you to eat. There will be a lot of these kinds of things in the game.

Oh, and about Taoism... Enter The Flesh Again focuses on Buddhist philosophy and is mainly concerned with a buddhist book known in the western world as The Tibetan Book Of The Dead, otherwise known as the Bardo Thödol. One of the prime beliefs of buddhism is that we are trapped in an endless cycle of death and rebirth, and we need to escape it somehow. The goal of the game is to attain enlightenment and be released from the cycle of rebirth and death, thus attaining Nirvana.

In the future I'll be posting more about the after death plane and how The Tibetan Book Of The Dead is incorporated into the game, but right now I'm busy working on the physical realm where at least half, if not most, of the gameplay will take place.
